Clean and crisp beer with a LOT of coffee character on the nose and the mouth make this one of the best coffee treated ales I’ve had in a while.
Please note that we’re drinking a “pandemic” served beer (served in plastic cups on sanitized and secure places). I am going to offer a review with a picture that does not make this beer justice. It’s a shame; I am sure this brew looks fantastic in a proper cup.
On the nose and in the mouth, this brew had a great coffee aroma and character, with a clean, crisp base. It’s refreshing and palatable, with a medium body that carries the hops well. The beer has been sitting in kegs for a couple of months, with about 2 pounds of coffee per barrel, according to one of the brewmasters, so you’ll get all that coffee through the drinking experience.
You can get that coffee bitterness at the end, which stays with you like a black cup of coffee in the mornings; not unpleasant at all and very enjoyable. The Belgian style character remains throughout.
When poured, this beer has a beautiful white head of foam with some lacing and a beautiful darker blonde color that invites you to bring it up and drink it.
Overall, there is nothing ordinary about this brew. It’s all magnificent, all the time. A winner in my book!
